Dhaka International film festival to present Iranian films

Dhaka International film festival is to host a number of Iranian screen productions.

A number of Iranian screen productions are to represent the country’s cinema at the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

Some 26 movies are set to take part in different sections of the festival including the Asian Film Competition, ‘Cinema of the World,’ ‘Children Film’, ‘Short and Independent’ and ‘Spiritual Film’.

‘Malaria’ directed by Parviz Shahbazi, ‘Daughter’ by Reza Mirkarimi, ‘Paris, Tehran’ by Kaveh Oveisi, ‘Life and a Day’ by Saeed Rustaei and ‘Parting’ by Navid Mahmoudi are the Iranian entries for the Asian Film Competition.

In the Retrospective Film Section, five movies by the late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami (1940-2016) will be displayed.

The 2017 edition of the festival are scheduled to present 187 movies from 60 countries in different sections.

The DIFF which is one of the most prestigious film events in Bangladesh has programmed this year’s edition of the event for January 12-20.
